The Iranian president has warned of a terrible, painful response

In response to the bombing of the consular building of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, in response to the recent strike in Israel, Iranian President Ebrahim Raiszi declared that any further action against the interests of the Islamic Republic would be met with a “terrible response”.

“The operation to punish the aggressor was successfully carried out. Now we firmly state that even the smallest action against Iran’s interests will result in a terrible, large-scale and painful response,” Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said in a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar. Raiszi’s government published a report on the trial on its website.

The Iranian president believed that the UN Security Council and the organization as a whole “did not fulfill their minimum legal obligation to condemn the attack against the Iranian consulate in Damascus [izraeli] attack”. Thus, he added, Tehran “in accordance with its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter attacked the same centers from which malicious acts against the Islamic Republic were carried out.”

According to the Iranian administration, the Qatari emir “praised the Islamic Republic of Iran for its response to the crimes committed by Israel” and said the move “contains a clear and unambiguous message for everyone”.

On the evening of April 13, Iran launched dozens of drones and missiles at Israel in response to what it called Tel Aviv’s “repeated crimes,” including an attack on the Iranian embassy’s consular office in Damascus, which it blamed on Israel. Iranian state-owned media reported that the strikes on Israel targeted military targets.

The Israel Defense Forces said that 99 percent of the nearly 350 projectiles fired at the country were intercepted. Israel did not report any deaths or serious injuries and said only minor damage to the Nevatim air base.
