The SEC warned of two possible situations on election day

World news

At 7 o’clock polling stations are open across the country. Member and spokesperson of the SEC Slaven Hojski warns of two possible situations on electoral day, one of them is voters who do not have a valid identity card. “In the extract from the list of voters, which will be found at all polling stations on Wednesday, there are all voters with a valid identity card, but the one who does not have it does not mean that he will not be able to exercise his right that day”, says Hojski and explains what such a voter should take an additional step, go to the administrative department, which is usually the registry office, take out the blue certificate, return to the polling station with it, get a ballot and vote,” he added.

He emphasized that all state administration offices are on duty on Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will regularly issue these certificates.

Hojski also points out that voters who will not be in their place of residence on election day, but have temporarily registered or obtained a voting certificate, for example from Osijek for Dubrovnik, cannot vote in Dubrovnik at any polling station, but at a special one. At 102 polling stations in Croatia, which are, as a rule, all major cities, we have such special polling stations, where a voter from Osijek can come and get a ballot for his 4th constituency and vote there, he explains.

SEC’s message to employers – enable all employees to get to the polls

The elections for the 11th convocation of the Croatian Parliament will be monitored by 5,400 observers, and more than 70,000 people will be involved in the election administration. Although election Wednesday is a non-working day, many employees will still be working, so the SEC sent a message to their employers. “We asked them to ensure that they work in shifts to enable all voters to get to the polling station and vote,” said Hojski.

The SEC will inform the public about voter turnout on Wednesday at noon and at 5 p.m., and at 9 p.m. it will announce the first election results, which will be updated every 15 minutes, so that between 11 p.m. and 10 p.m. three quarters of polling stations should be processed.

Then, quite certain, we will also see the schedule of representatives in the Parliament, announced a member and spokesperson of the SEC.
