A big change in the weather arrived in Croatia on Tuesday. The temperature in parts of the country is about 20 degrees lower than it was last week, and there is no new heat in sight… It will be even colder than the average for mid-April.

– Changeable and mostly cloudy on the mainland, and partly sunny on the Adriatic. Rain in the east during the night and in the morning, and showers and thunderstorms in Dalmatia. In the afternoon, local rain showers are possible inland and on the northern Adriatic, and snow in Gorska Croatia. Wind weak to moderate from the north. On the Adriatic, a moderate and strong gale, under Velebit still in the morning with stormy gusts, and in Dalmatia, westerly and northwestern wind. The lowest temperature from 1 to 6, on the northern Adriatic and in the interior of Dalmatia from 6 to 11, and elsewhere longer; on the coast between 11 and 16. The Osje and Gospi regions are under a severe weather alert due to ice, while the Knin, Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik regions are in ‘out’ due to strong winds and thunderstorms.
As for the coastal area, a red weather alert is in effect for the Velebit Channel due to strong winds, gusts of up to 150 km/h are possible! Kvarner and Kvarnerić are under an orange warning due to the wind, and for the west coast of Istria and the whole of Dalmatia, a second weather alert has been announced, also due to the wind…
Forecast for the end of the week
On Thursday, the wind will weaken, but the temperature, more suitable for the time of year, will remain at least until the middle of next week. With partial clearing from Friday, the lowest morning air temperature will be around 0 °C, primarily in the valleys of Gorska Hrvatska, so it is possible and frost on the ground, reports DHMZ.
