In some parts of the Ishimsky district of the Tyumen region, emergency evacuation began. This morning local residents received a message telling them to leave their homes.
“Residents of Ishim received SMS messages at 6 o’clock in the morning with a call to urgently evacuate from houses that may be in a flood zone. There is a critical rise in water on the Ishim River. Let us remind you that residents of houses that may be in a flood zone were warned about this during door-to-door visits. Temporary accommodation centers have been set up in the city.”
The city of Ishim has a population of 67 thousand people.
According to authorities, the water level in the Ishim River near the village of Ilyinka has crossed the threshold at which dangerous phenomena occur. According to the Base, the water level has now reached 808 cm – this is a critical level. Every day the water level rises by about 27 cm.
The local residents themselves are actively resisting the flood. Volunteers fill bags with sand to strengthen the banks. At the moment, several thousand bags have already been sent to objects unprotected from the dam.
