Salman Rushdie, author of the book “The Satanic Verses”, lost one of his eyes as a result of a knife attack at a conference in New York, USA. Rushdie broke his silence about the moment of the knife attack.
Salman Rushdi, the author of the book “The Satanic Verses”, who was attacked with 15 stab wounds, once in the neck, at an event he attended in New York in 2022 and lost one of his eyes as a result of the attack, wrote his new memoir about the attack, “Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder” ( Knife: Reflections on an Attempted Murder) was interviewed before its release.Speaking for the first time about the moment of the knife attack, the author said, “I felt like something from the distant past was trying to drag me back in time, that distant past, to kill me.”According to the news in Independent Turkish; “In the corner of my right eye (the last thing my right eye could see) I saw the man in black running towards me from the right side of the seating area. Black clothes, black face mask. He was coming hard and low. He was like a crouching missile,” said Salman Rushdie.“I confess, sometimes I dreamed that my assassin would appear at a public meeting or somewhere else and come for me like this,” said the famous name, “So when I saw this deadly form running towards me, my first thought was, ‘So it’s you. Here you are.'” he said.On the other hand, Salman Rushdie was hospitalized for 6 weeks after Hadi Matar’s attack. In addition to vision loss, Rushdie lost sensation in some of his fingertips due to the injury to his hand.
