Pınar Alpay Yüksel, Secretary General of Sevda-Cenap And (SCA) Music Foundation, said that the 38th International Ankara Music Festival will bring together 300 artists from 12 countries in different categories from jazz music to chamber music. Yüksel made an evaluation to the AA reporter about the 38th International Ankara Music Festival, which will start on April 4.

Stating that the foundation, which celebrates its 50th anniversary of its establishment, is a non-governmental organization that continues the cultural heritage of an art-loving family from Ankara, Yüksel said that with this trust, they have had the opportunity to host world-famous artists at the International Ankara Music Festival. Stating that in the first years the festival was created with the requests of the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture and Tourism, Yüksel pointed out that the events were diversified over time, the works of Turkish composers were performed and programs were prepared in which the first performances were performed.

Emphasizing that the festival provides education opportunities for Turkish artists and the opportunity to give concerts abroad, Yüksel said that the event also adds vitality to the economic and cultural life of Ankara. Stating that the festival starts every year with a concert in memory of the founder of the foundation, Cenap And, Yüksel said, “A very rich festival program has been created with the contributions and demands of our Ankara audience and the addition of changing categories that will appeal to all generations. Yüksel stated that the 38th festival, of which the Sabancı Foundation is an honorary member, was organized on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Sevda-Cenap And Music Foundation, as a gift to art lovers, with the foundation’s own resources and the contributions of local and foreign institutions, and that the festival was held at the MEB Şura Hall, CSO Ada Ankara concert halls, Bilkent He stated that it will take place at the Concert Hall, Çankaya Stage, Flow Digital Theater CerModern and Painting and Sculpture Museum Hall.

Yüksel stated that the opening concert of the festival will be held with the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Ender Sakpınar and the soloist performance of award-winning young guitarist Özberk Miraç Sarıgül, with the first performance of the complete guitar concerto of Cemal Reşit Rey.

At the festival, distinguished examples of classical music, baroque music, dance and jazz will be presented in the categories of symphonic concerts, modern ballet, chamber music and jazz from Japan, Germany, Czechia, Croatia, Russia, Hungary, Georgia, Norway, Azerbaijan, France and Italy. Informing that more than 300 artists and ensembles from 12 countries, including Turkey, will take part in the event, Yüksel said that the festival closing concert will take place with the Moscow Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, one of the most well-known symphony orchestras of Russia and the world, under the direction of Russian conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev.

Yüksel noted that the entertaining Japanese drum and dance show accompanied by the “lion dance” by the leading master artists of Japanese music with traditional instruments by the Delattre Modern Dance Group will be among the interesting programs that will be presented at the festival.

Pınar Alpay Yüksel said that for the people of Ankara who love jazz music, the Norwegian jazz group “Tord Gustavsen Trio” will give a concert on April 23, and the “Spin Jazz Six”, consisting of 6 musicians, will give a concert at the MEB Şura Hall on April 27. “Ankara spring is more beautiful with music.
