Günhan’s death was announced by his daughter on her social media account. In the statement made; “My dear father, our cheerful Turkish folk music artist Şakir Öner Günhan came to light today. His funeral will take place from Bitez Gülsevim Rüştü Kaynak Mosque following the noon prayer on April 14, and he will be buried in the Bitez cemetery.”

WHO IS ŞAKİR ÖNER GÜNHAN?

Born in 1942 in the Mudanya district of Bursa, Şakir Öner Günhan, as the son of a civil servant father, completed his primary and secondary school education in many parts of Anatolia. Günhan, who studied high school in Ankara, successfully graduated from Ankara Economic and Commercial Sciences Academy and Gazi Education Institute Physical Education Department and Ankara State Conservatory Singing Department. Günhan entered TRT in 1966 as a Turkish Folk Music Voice Artist. He worked as a producer at TRT since 1973. Later, he served as presenter, director and producer in many television programs, especially ‘Our Regions Turkey’, ‘Ankara Rüzgarı’ and ‘Folk Song Story’.
