Some members of the European Parliament (EP) on Tuesday criticized the European Union for being “complicit” and perpetuating Israeli actions that violate international law. Anadolu Agency reports.
Members of Parliament criticized the EU’s position on Israeli actions that violate international law during a meeting held at the EP on “The European Parliament’s response to the killing of aid workers, journalists and civilians by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.”
Left Group member of the European Parliament Manu Pineda condemned Israel’s failure to implement the provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), highlighting the deaths of journalists and aid workers in Israeli attacks.
Pineda’s characterization of Israel as a “tumor” in the Middle East has sparked controversy, with some calling it anti-Semitic.
Another member of the Left Group, Claire Daly, accused the EU of complicity and silence regarding Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.

Daly criticized the EU for cutting off support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) without justifying Israel’s prosecution of the agency.
She accused the EU of “waving the flag of the oppressor from day one” and condemned some EU countries for their actions.
Mick Wallace, also a member of the Left Group, condemned the timing of the session, criticizing the EU’s provision of arms to what he called the “genocidal apartheid regime”.
He accused the EU of providing diplomatic cover for Israel’s actions, but failed to impose sanctions or take decisive action.
Wallace highlighted the EU’s inconsistent response to conflicts involving Russia and Israel, questioning the primacy of geopolitical interests over human rights.
He concluded by questioning whether the EU considered the deaths of children in Gaza to be an acceptable cost to protect its interests.
Israel launched a deadly military offensive into Palestinian territory following a cross-border Hamas attack on October 7 that killed nearly 1,200 people.
However, it has since been discovered Gaaretz that Israeli army helicopters and tanks actually killed many of the 1,139 soldiers and civilians that Israel claims were killed by the Palestinian Resistance.

Israel’s 200-day war has internally displaced 85 percent of Gaza’s population amid severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine, and 60 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN. .
Israel is accused of genocide by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which in January issued an interim order ordering it to cease its acts of genocide and take measures to guarantee the provision of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip.
