Alex Kroes will remain as technical director at Ajax

Alex Kroes will remain as technical director at Ajax Sport

“We are not deaf to the sounds around us and have spoken frequently in recent weeks with people inside and outside Ajax, including the Board of Directors and of course with Alex himself,” says supervisory board chairman Michael van Praag.

“It goes without saying that conditions were agreed upon that made this change possible. The club must move on and we believe that it is good for Ajax that we have ultimately arrived at this solution together. Alex will play an important role in the football technical part of the organization and focus in particular on the purchasing and sales policy.”

Inactive

Kroes was suspended at the beginning of this month by the supervisory board because he had purchased shares at a time when he was one of the few who knew that he would become a director at the club.

Ajax has announced that if the competent authorities determine that there has been a violation by Kroes, his position as technical director may also be reconsidered.

Alex Kroes himself responds that he is ‘very happy’ that he and Ajax have found a solution. “The focus at Ajax must be on football again. We need everyone’s support to finish this season as best as possible.”

To combine forces

The newly appointed technical director says that they will immediately start working on the new season. “It is high time to join forces as one Ajax and to merge all the knowledge and skills that Ajax players have within and around the club. I look forward to working not only with Louis van Gaal, Danny Blind, Marijn Beuker and Kelvin de Lang, but also with everyone around them to build a bright future for Ajax.
