Relief among Ajax members after Alex Kroes' return: "No one is bigger than Ajax" Sport

“I am very relieved. I am happy that the parties started talking to each other. In my opinion, that was the intention. No one is bigger than Ajax. Sit together and look for a solution,” says one of the members .

“We are not members to provoke each other. That is not the intention. It is a dire situation that we have to get out of,” says another member. Yet another member says that it is time for Michael van Praag to make way for ‘youthful impetus’ so that a new wind blows through the club.

Excuses

Supervisory Board chairman Michael van Praag apologized during the deliberation, De Telegraaf reports. He is said to have apologized to the members of Ajax because he was too harsh on Kroes after his alleged insider trading in Ajax shares.

For example, he was previously unrelenting about Kroes at AT5 and indicated that he did not want him back because it was not a playground at Ajax. So he is now coming back to that.

‘Very happy’

The club reported this afternoon that Kroes could start working at the club as technical director. Kroes started as general manager at Ajax in March, but was suspended by the supervisory board (SB) on April 2 because he allegedly bought shares with insider information.

Alex Kroes himself responded that he was ‘very happy’ that he and Ajax have found a solution. “The focus at Ajax must return to football. We need everyone’s support to finish this season as best as possible, he said this afternoon.
