[Deal du jour] Philips has many TV models on the market, including those in the The One range. They come with Ambilight technology, which projects light onto your walls. Ideal for creating a beautiful atmosphere.

What is this promotion on this Philips The One TV?

The Philips The One 55PUS8508/12 television is a 55-inch model, usually sold for €999. It is currently offered on Amazon at a price of 749 €.

What is this TV with Ambilight?

If you are on this article, it is because you are thinking of changing television sets, or because Ambilight intrigues you. Know it right away. Although this system is a great technology, it is not necessarily the main argument to decide on the choice of your television. For movie buffs and gamers alike, Ambilight provides a pretty cool extra immersion. By means of a set of LEDs arranged behind and around the television, the latter can project lighting in line with what you are watching, and thus amplify the image on the wall. The content you watch is then extended around your television, thanks to a halo of light.

The effect works for video games and films and series, especially since the very thin borders of the TV leave room for great immersion. But you will sometimes tend to quickly forget it, it all depends on the type of content you watch or play. Fortunately, for more sedate movie nights, Philips allows you to set the Ambilight so that it can simply serve as a fill light, in the color of your choice, like the Hue connected bulbs of the same brand. Your TV corner will be bathed in warm light, perfect for not damaging your eyes in front of the screen. Note that you can also just deactivate the Ambilight function.

Is this TV a bargain at this price?

It’s a bargain if you have the budget for it and Ambilight makes you want to. You can compare The One to other TV models and brands, in our guide to the best 4K TVs of 2023. This TV from Philips has a 55-inch screen, or a diagonal of 139cm. Its panel offers a 4K definition of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and is HDR10+ and Dolby Vision compatible, for an excellent level of image detail. For the most cinephiles, contrast and brightness are excellent, and the colorimetry is just as good. The Cinema preset, coupled with Dolby Vision or HDR10+ mode, offers a quality image, faithful to the cinema experience.

Players can connect their PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, and enjoy excellent rendering, thanks to HDMI 2.1 connectivity and the refresh rate of 100 Hz. On the audio side, Dolby Atmos invites itself and offers a sound of quality, but which unfortunately does not live up to the image. A good sound installation, such as a sound bar, will be welcome. Finally, this Philips TV comes with the Android TV interface. Your SVOD content and platform are easily accessible, with fluid menus. The One is compatible with the Google Assistant & Amazon Alexa, to be controlled by voice.
