The Coordinating Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war initiated the resumption of the investigation of the terrorist attack in Yelenovka at the international level. This was reported in the telegram channel of the headquarters on August 5.

Representatives of the Coordination Headquarters made a presentation with research on the facts about the prerequisites, motives and consequences of a terrorist act, as well as those involved in a war crime.

“The authors of the presentation – the Regional Center for Human Rights, the Ukrainian Helsinki Union for Human Rights, the Media Initiative for Human Rights and the Olenovka Family Community NGO – hope for an adequate response from the UN Commission and the entire international community, and in particular for the resumption of the investigation of the terrorist act at the international level After all, the terrorist attack in Yelenovka continued the numerous war crimes of the Russian Federation and its violations of the Geneva Conventions,” the Headquarters said in a statement.

Terrorist attack in Yelenovka

On July 29, in the correctional colony of Yelenovka, Donetsk region, where prisoners of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were kept, there was a powerful explosion, after which a fire broke out. On August 15, it became known that employees of the International Committee of the Red Cross visited the prisoner of war camp in Yelenovka twice. They were unable to talk to the Ukrainian prisoners of war in private.

Western experts and criminologists have come to the conclusion that Russia’s version of the shelling of the colony in Yelenovka from the HIMARS MLRS is fictitious.
