Israel is examining the possibility of concluding an interim deal with Hamas Рolitics

Israeli Channel 12 reported this evening, Thursday, April 25, 2024, that Israel is discussing a parsimonious deal, which includes the release of 20 Israeli prisoners held by resistance factions in the Gaza Strip, in exchange for allowing the displaced to return to the northern Gaza Strip, without committing to ending the war on the Gaza Strip.

In turn, Channel 13 said that Israel is considering what it described as “an interim deal to release dozens of hostages” in line with Hamas’ response that reached Israel through mediators about two weeks ago.

She added that the deal includes “the release of dozens of hostages, including women and female soldiers,” and pointed out that Israel will demand the release of “at least 20 hostages” in exchange for a ceasefire for several weeks in the Gaza Strip.

Under the proposal, Israel will show “more flexibility regarding Hamas’s demand for the Israeli army to withdraw” from the corridor that the occupation established to separate the northern Gaza Strip from its south, a demand that Israel had previously rejected.

The proposal also includes the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons, provided that the exchange rates, or what is known as the “key” to the deal, will be agreed upon later.

The war cabinet approved the authorization of the Israeli negotiating team to hold talks with the Egyptian delegation that will arrive in Israel tomorrow with the aim of reaching an agreement on the exchange of prisoners, according to what the Walla website reported from an Israeli official.

Another official reported that the head of the Shin Bet, Bar, and the army representative in the negotiating team, Nitzan Alon, reviewed during the war cabinet meeting, proposals regarding the Israeli side showing “more flexibility” in the negotiations in an attempt to reach an agreement.
