“An unknown explosive device exploded in Nikolaev, causing cars to catch fire. While extinguishing the fire, a second detonation occurred and 5 employees of the State Emergency Service were injured,” the military said.
On the spot, first aid was provided to them by volunteers of the Nikolaev Rapid Response Unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society and an emergency medical team. All victims were taken to the hospital, where they receive the necessary care.
According to the mayor of the city, Alexander Senkevich, the explosion is not related to an enemy “arrival.”
“Emergency services are working on the spot. The houses nearby are not damaged,” the mayor assured.
