An 88-year-old man left the occupied part of the village of Ocheretino, Donetsk region, so as not to receive Russian citizenship.
The head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Vadim Filashkin told about this story. A man named Ivan Yakovlevich himself went out into the territory controlled by the Ukrainian military, where volunteers met him on the road and gave him a ride to Pokrovsk.
“He walked all night to some crossing. There was shelling, he stayed there for a couple of hours to wait it out,” the video says.
It is noted that when the Russian invaders entered the part of Ocheretino, they took away documents from Ivan Yakovlevich and his neighbor and said that they would be given Russian citizenship.
“He only had a pension certificate with him from his documents. He packed one backpack and left,” the man’s story is told in the video.
The OVA noted that Ivan Yakovlevich was taken to a temporary shelter in the Dnieper. From there he will be sent to one of the institutions of the social protection system, where he will be provided with a place to live and all the necessary services.
“Mr. Ivan’s story is amazing. This is a civic position and love for the Motherland. I am sincerely grateful to everyone who supports the residents of the region. Your concern saves the lives of our people,” added Filashkin.
The situation in Ocheretino
Recently, the village of Ocheretino, Donetsk region, has become the focus of attention. On the morning of April 24, Sergei Tsekhotsky, an officer of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakov Handzyuk, said that there were battles in the area of this settlement.
