Chinese company CATL recently introduced the revolutionary Shenxing Plus lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. It is capable of providing almost 1000 km of travel on a single charge, writes Interesting Engineering.

Shenxing Plus was developed on the basis of the Shenxing model, which made the company a leader in the field of LFP batteries. The new type of Shenxing Plus battery has further raised the bar and solved the main problem of electric vehicle owners – charging time.

With a range of 620 miles (997 km) per charge and ultra-fast charging capabilities, Shenxing Plus could make electric vehicles more popular. The advantage of the battery is its fast charging – in just 10 minutes of connecting to the mains, it accumulates enough charge to travel 600 km.

CATL understands that even with increased range, faster charging times are critical to the smooth operation of electric vehicles. They seem to have succeeded in this task, as tests showed that the battery was able to charge from 20% to 80% in 10 minutes. Such indicators were provided by the patented 4C ultra-fast charging technology. This will give the car a power reserve of 600 km.

The secret to Shenxing Plus’ impressive performance lies in the combination of advanced technologies such as granular gradation technology for the cathode, ensuring optimal placement of each nanoparticle for unprecedented density. In addition, a proprietary 3D honeycomb material is added to the anode. This not only increased overall energy density, but also made it possible to control the increase in energy volume during charge and discharge cycles, increasing battery life.
