Russian shells destroyed the church, which was built with Ukrainian money 100 years ago using reinforced concrete. Now, instead of the church restored in the 80-90s. – destroyed walls and debris.
The Russian Armed Forces showed what the village of Novomikhailovka looks like in the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region. There is not a single intact building left in the village. In addition, the Russians destroyed a hundred-year-old church – the Temple of the Miracle of the Archangel Michael. The video was published on the Telegram channel of the pro-Kremlin TV channel Zvezda.
The recording, published on April 22, lasts 20 seconds and was made using a drone. A drone camera captures the impact of the Russian invasion on a village in the western Donetsk region. You can see that some houses are left with a lot of rubble and not a single intact wall. Other houses stand with broken walls and roofs. Fields and garden plots with dozens of shell craters. In the midst of these destructions are the remains of the Orthodox Church, which stand in the very center of the village.
Novomikhailovka is a village in the Donetsk region, in which about 1,400 people lived before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. The temple on the territory of the community became subordinate to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Pre-war photographs posted on Google Maps show what it looked like before the Russians arrived in 2024.

The Church of the Miracle of the Archangel Michael in Novomikhailovka was built in 1907, the money was provided by local residents. During construction, the material was used for the first time – reinforced concrete – they told about the history of Donbass on the portal. During Soviet times it was closed and the domes were removed. During the time of independence, it was rebuilt: it stood until the arrival of the Russian occupiers.

On the DeepState online combat map, you can see that the enemy has completely captured the territory of the settlement, having marched more than a kilometer. At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense also stated that the Russians occupied the village.

Before this, fighters of the 79th Airborne Shrift Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces spoke about the destruction of Russian tanks with which the enemy tried to fight in this direction. Over the course of several weeks, the Ukrainian military destroyed more than 300 armored vehicles. Each damaged piece of equipment was marked on the map and confirmed with relevant video evidence.
We remind you that on April 22 it became known about the advance of the enemy in the village of Ocheretino, located on the northern flank in the Avdeevsky direction. Experts geolocated the positions of the Russians and found out that they could be in the center of a populated area.
