The Ukrainian diplomat said the United States has reaffirmed its global leadership, and the decision by the House of Representatives on aid is a significant support for Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines.

Today is a bad day for Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and those who have decided to undermine US efforts to protect global priorities and values. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba on the microblogging service X thanked the House of Representatives of Congress for adopting a decision on assistance to Ukraine.

The diplomat said that Ukraine is looking forward to the bill being quickly adopted by the US Senate and signed by the president. This is tangible support for Ukrainian soldiers on the front line who are resisting Russian invaders.

“Bad day for Putin,” he said.

Kuleba expressed gratitude to the House of Representatives of the US Congress, its speaker and members of both parties. According to him, everyone who put effort into this decision made the right choice.

“The United States has reaffirmed its global leadership,” the diplomat said.

Help for Ukraine – how Congress voted

The US House of Representatives passed a $60.84 billion aid package to Ukraine after HR 8035, the Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, received support from congressmen.

311 congressmen voted in favor, of which 210 Democrats and 101 Republicans. 112 congressmen opposed the initiative. Seven House members did not vote.

The House of Representatives of the US Congress rejected all amendments to the Ukraine aid bill. Most of them were filed by Republicans, notably Victoria Spartz, Kat Cammack and Marjorie Taylor.

Let us recall that on April 20, President Vladimir Zelensky thanked the House of Representatives for assistance to Ukraine. He thanked House Speaker Mike Johnson. The head of state is confident that the senators’ decision will save the world from a major war.
