iPhone 15 cases - Apple FineWoven accessories turned out to be a failure - UNIAN War in Ukraine news

As planned, FineWoven was supposed to become a new standard for the company’s future devices, but the implementation was a failure.

Apple’s next attempt to combine environmentally friendly with durable was not successful: FineWoven cases, straps and cardholders, which were released simultaneously with smartphones, the iPhone 15, are being retired and will no longer be produced, writes MacRumors.

FineWoven was positioned by Apple as a more environmentally friendly and reliable replacement for leather cases. But from the first days of release they began to receive a lot of criticism. The situation was so bad that Amazon had to add a warning that the item is “returned frequently.”

This is what the cases looked like after months, and sometimes weeks of use:

Although Apple itself has not officially announced the abandonment of FineWoven, trusted sources indicate a stop in the production of all accessories. It is likely that in the near future there will be a kind of “rebranding” of the line, with the appearance on the market of more durable cases under the same brand.

The source says Apple may switch to a different material in the future, but it definitely won’t be leather. After switching to FineWoven, the corporation announced that it would no longer produce leather accessories. At the same time, it is interesting how Apple plans to dispose of the remaining stocks of FineWoven cases, which most likely number in the millions.

Apple has immediate plans to announce new tablets, presumably in early May. According to rumors, both releases will be significant: the iPad Pro will receive OLED panels instead of LCD for the first time, and the Air family will be released in two sizes for the first time in history and will receive a new 12.9-inch diagonal.
