What happened on this day?
Today the Orthodox Church honors the memory of the holy martyr Iannuarius. He was a bishop in Italy in the 3rd century and was subject to persecution of Christians. They wanted to throw Iannuarius into the oven, but the fire did not touch him, which is why he was considered a sorcerer and put in prison. But when the ruler went blind, and Iannuarius healed him publicly, thousands of people believed in his miraculous gift. But even after this, the ruler remained adamant and ordered everyone to be killed with a sword.
