The accident happened on Thursday, on the section of road No. 289 between Brody and Lubsko, in the district of Żary (Lubuskie Voivodeship). Preliminary police findings show that the BMW driver lost control of the vehicle during overtaking, veered sharply into the right lane, then left the road and crashed into a tree. – Two young men died on the spot – said Capt. Arkadiusz Kaniak, press officer of Lubuskie firefighters, quoted by local media.

The men who were traveling in the BMW and died in this tragic accident were 17 and 18 years old. A young woman, also a passenger in the BMW, was seriously injured in the incident. A helicopter of the Polish Medical Air Rescue, which was called to the scene of the accident, took the victim to the hospital in Zielona Góra. The investigation into the causes and all circumstances of the accident will be supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Żary.
Long June weekend on the roads. Police appeal
Before the long weekend in June, the police appealed for extreme caution to all road users – including single-track vehicles: cyclists, motorcyclists, mopeds and electric scooter users. By next Sunday, the number of police patrols will be higher. “Safety will also be supervised by officers of the SPEED group, whose main task is to prevent dangerous behavior on the road, such as, among others, exceeding the speed limit, overtaking in prohibited places” The traffic police officers will investigate m. sobriety of drivers. On Wednesday, there were 95 accidents in which 11 people died and 96 were injured.
