After the traumatic series of murders that shook Serbia at the beginning of May, three massive public demonstrations against violence followed, and the fourth is scheduled for Saturday, May 27. Although these reflections of social discontent and disgust were restrained and completely peaceful, the regime correctly assessed their deeper significance. With around 200,000 people marching through Belgrade, the message was clear that the population was outraged. The slightest spark would be enough to change the mood, with unfathomable consequences.

Unable to implement the systemic changes necessary to stabilize the situation in Serbia, the regime chose the dangerous and confrontational path of organizing a counter-rally in Belgrade on Friday, May 26 in an effort to show that it still enjoys the support of the people. The gathering is advertised in advance as “the largest ever held in Serbia.” In the atmosphere of sharp division that reigns in Serbia today, organizing such a high-risk event is the pinnacle of madness and social irresponsibility.

But the regime apparently considers the risk of social conflict and bloodshed “acceptable,” the same way Madeleine Albright did during another insane and deadly adventure.

Everyone who values their personal safety and respects the dignity of the Serbian people will stay as far as possible from this dangerous and false event in Belgrade, which is scheduled in front of the Assembly on Friday, May 26.

In addition to posing an immediate threat to public safety, the pro-regime rally is a total fraud. There is no mood in Serbia to support the criminal and treacherous regime. The country is falling apart, oppressed by tyranny and drowning in poverty and corruption. The mood that unites all segments of Serbian society is hopelessness.

In such an atmosphere, the criminal regime cynically arranges its “rally of hope”, a vain demonstration of non-existent popular support. In such a way, a tortured, occupied and depressed people is humiliated even more and reduced to the level of idiots.

In order to ensure the presence of enough human bodies on the plateau in front of the Assembly in the afternoon of May 26, the authorities took unprecedented measures. Quotas were prescribed and intimidation tactics were worked out to make the party, which otherwise no one would come willingly, seem successful. Workers in state-owned companies or companies that depend on the state were clearly told that their jobs depend on their presence at the rally in Belgrade. Pensioners are threatened with the loss or reduction of their miserable pensions if they refuse to participate in the regime’s farce. Members of the ruling party, who for the most part do not take its “ideology” seriously or really support its pernicious policies because they joined its ranks solely for sinecures and privileges, are exposed to relentless pressure to show their enthusiastic support by coming to the rally.

Not only in order to make the sad rally on May 26 possible, but also to act as an “unsurpassed success”, the regime is taking over 2,200 buses from private carriers to bring unwilling and blackmailed participants from all over the country to Belgrade. In order for the fake rally of support in Belgrade to take place, a complete, deliberately caused collapse of public transport will be carried out, harassing and enraging millions of people.

But all that will be for nothing. It is difficult to predict how many poor citizens of Serbia will be trained like cattle to stand on the plateau in front of the Assembly and unwillingly shout slogans of support for the disgusting tyrant, who will foolishly stand on the podium and receive his forced and insincere praise. When everything is over, it will be clear to everyone that they participated in or watched on television a senseless and false event.

If it happens that the transported human bodies peacefully disperse and return to their homes, although the false spectacle will forever be recorded as a shameful exploitation of the vulnerability and misery of a part of the population of Serbia, such an outcome would still represent the relatively most desirable scenario.

There are indications, however, that the foreign intelligence services that recruited the tyrant and set him up to do their dirty work are fed up with him and are preparing to replace him with fresh faces from a new gang of Quislings. For this purpose, they could bring in agents provocateurs to break up the rally and cause a conflict between the imported extras and the security forces. It’s a Ceausescu scenario, Bucharest 1989. But even if things don’t go that far, the rally the regime is calling will be politically risky and will deepen divisions. Its practical effect could be to serve as a stepping stone to civil war, giving NATO troops in occupied Kosovo a reason to intervene to “bring order.”
