Elton recently had to cope with several setbacks: ProSieben dropped him as presenter of “Schlag den Star” after the presenter had worked for the station for 23 years. The reason: RTL always accepted jobs at RTL, which was too much for those responsible at ProSieben.
A few days ago, an Elton format was completely scrapped on RTL: “Disgrace or Cash in” no longer achieved the desired ratings, which is why the Cologne broadcaster drew a line.
Now, however, Elton can celebrate a milestone – This time it’s about a traditional ZDF format. As it turns out, the 53-year-old didn’t see his own show anniversary coming.
Elton surprised by the ZDF crew’s party
“Yesterday my 500th episode of “1,2 or 3” was recorded. Wow!” cheers the showmaster in his latest post on Instagram. With the words “Thank you very much for 500 great programs from which I was able to learn something every now and then,” he thanks the ZDF bosses. He admits: “It wasn’t on my radar.”

The presenter shares three photos from the party. In one picture he is holding a certificate into the camera, which he also received for the special occasion. The hall was decorated with colorful balloons in honor of Elton, and the physical well-being was also taken care of.
In the comments section, numerous fans are happy with and for Elton. “It’s great that at least ZDF is honoring you,” can be read, for example, in reference to the recent ProSieben rejection. By the way, the post was liked by, among others, Steven Gätjen, who, as we know, works for ProSieben.
Even after Elton’s exit from “Schlag den Star” became known, numerous celebrities expressed their solidarity with the presenter. His “Who knows something like that?” colleague Kai Pflaume was unusually clear and wrote on Instagram: “After 23 years of working together, you definitely don’t deserve to be treated like this.”
Elton hints at TV future
Meanwhile, the collaboration between Elton and the public channels appears to be continuing smoothly. The former ProSieben show intern indicates that he would like to stay with the show “1, 2 or 3” for a long time: “In 2027, this wonderful format will be 50 years old and I hope that we can celebrate properly again.”
Elton can currently be seen on ARD every day during the week. The quiz “Who knows something like that?” In mid-May, however, the film will take a break and be replaced by “Gefragt – Gejagt”.
On April 21st, Joko and Klaas were allowed to design ProSieben’s program for 24 hours. They had previously won against their employer at “Joko & Klaas against ProSieben”. The station takeover was a complete success: In terms of ratings, it was the station’s best day since the “The Masked Singer” finale in 2020.
