In Kherson, nine people were injured during the shelling, said the head of the Kherson regional military administration Alexander Prokudin.
The shelling took place in the area of Korabelnaya Square during the evacuation of residents of the city, whose houses were under water due to the breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
Among the injured are two employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine – a sapper diver and a sapper driver. A policeman, a doctor and a volunteer from Germany were also injured, Prokudin said.
Among those who came under fire was the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Asman, who participated in the removal of people. He posted a video of the shooting.
According to the prosecutor’s office of Ukraine, another shelling occurred in one of the villages of the Kherson region, four people were injured. On the fact of the shelling, the department initiated a criminal case under the article “Violation of the laws and customs of war.”
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russian military was shooting at Ukrainian rescuers who are trying to help residents of the occupied regions.
