Jamal Murray holed a step-back jumper as the buzzer sounded andyou Nuggets of Denver erased a 20-point deficit in the second half to surprise the Lakers from Los Angeles 101-99 on Monday night and take a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference playoff series.

The agonizing basket by Murray, who fell after taking the shot, represented the first lead for the Nuggets since they took a 5-3 lead in the first minutes and gave the reigning NBA champions their 10th consecutive victory over the Lakers.

The series moves to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Thursday night.

Murray’s decisive shot came after LeBron James missed from long range with 16 seconds left and the score tied at 99.

Michael Porter Jr. grabbed the rebound with 13 seconds left and the Nuggets did not call a timeout.

In stead of, Murray took the ball to the right with the defensive mark of Anthony Davisstepped back and shook the basket just as the bell rang. Both Murray and Davis fell on the Nuggets bench as the roar of the crowd shook Ball Arena.

Murray finished with 20 points, including 4 in the fourth quarter, and Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double with 27 points, 20 boards and 10 assists. Porter added 22 points and Aaron Gordon 14 for Denver.

Davis led the Lakers with 32 points, James had 26 and D’Angelo Russell added 23 with a playoff career-best seven 3-pointers.
