MOSCOW, 29 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi met with leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma Leonid Slutsky on 29 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the diplomatic mission.

“The parties reviewed the state and prospects of Belarus-Russia relations, plans to deepen integration within the framework of the Union State and efforts to step up cooperation with friendly nations in bilateral and multilateral formats, including on the platforms of upcoming international events in Russia,” the press service said.

According to Dmitry Krutoi, the intensity of bilateral contacts has increased over the two years. He emphasized the role of parliamentarians in legislative support for the efforts to implement the provisions of the Union State Treaty in the period of 2021-2023 and the 28 Union State programs. The ambassador also highlighted the important role of inter-regional contacts in strengthening Belarus-Russia ties.

“Leonid Slutsky noted that Belarus-Russia interparliamentary contacts within the framework of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly and its committees are gaining momentum. He noted that Belarus and Russia are interconnected by dozens of crucial infrastructure projects, and expressed gratitude to Belarus for the opportunity to hold several rounds of Russia-Ukraine ceasefire talks in 2022,” the diplomatic mission noted.

“The parties agreed to expand working contacts between the Belarusian diplomatic mission and the faction of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia in the State Duma,” the embassy added.
