Zelensky believes that negotiations with the Russian Federation should be conducted by strong allies War in Ukraine news

According to the President of Ukraine, if the whole world agrees on the main points at the peace summit in Switzerland, then we can then find a format for negotiations that will suit Russia.

Ukraine believes that at the peace summit in Switzerland, the final document should first be agreed upon without Russia, and only then presented to the Russian Federation. On Sunday, April 21, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an interview with French reporter Hugo Travers, which he posted on the HugoDécrypte YouTube channel.

Zelensky noted that Ukraine does not want Russia to destroy with its presence the only diplomatic initiative aimed at ending the war. He emphasized that, based on experience, it is clear that regarding all peaceful initiatives that, according to the president, will be fair, the Russian Federation will try to do everything to ensure that they do not exist.

“We checked this at hundreds of meetings, and I’m telling the truth, since more than 100 meetings took place in the Minsk process during the Normandy formats,” the head of state stated.

Zelensky noted that many countries will most likely come to the Swiss summit – more than 80. In his opinion, this meeting will be productive. In any case, as the president says, there are three points on which Ukraine and its allies will reach an agreement.

“If the whole world agrees that this is fair, then we will find a format for how to make Russia agree to this. I am sure of this that there will be strong countries capable of politically putting pressure on the Russian Federation,” the head of Ukraine stated.

And he recalled how it was already with the grain initiative – Ukraine did not allow Russia to block it, it was further developed jointly with Turkey and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and then transferred to the Russian Federation through Turkish intermediaries and UN representatives. And it worked for quite a long time, although not for the entire time, but taking into account the fact that there were only two mediators on the Ukrainian side – Turkey and the UN, the president emphasized.

Therefore, Zelensky believes that if Ukraine has 100 countries that support the peace formula, if they see that all the agreed upon points are fair, then the whole world will be able to put pressure on Russia. Then, after the first summit, Ukraine and its allies will understand that there is a common vision of the points on which they agree together.

“Then we will be able to finalize other points regarding the end of the war if there are countries at the table of negotiations and discussions that really want peace and demand a fair peace from the Russian Federation,” Zelensky stated.

In this way, a document will be prepared with all resolved issues, with a vision for both Ukraine and the countries that support it. And there will be a moment and countries that will negotiate with representatives of the aggressor state.
