Habeck opens Quantum Systems’ German drone factory in Ukraine

World news

German drones have been in use in Ukraine for a long time. Now they are also being built on site. Economics Minister Habeck also came to the opening of the new factory.

The German company Quantum Systems is now producing drones in Ukraine. A new factory was put into operation on Thursday in the presence of Economy Minister Robert Habeck and Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Development Oleksandr Kamyshyn. The Vice Chancellor opened the plant during his delegation trip to Ukraine, Quantum Systems reported in a statement.

The Vector reconnaissance drones from the Munich-based company Quantum Systems have been in use in Ukraine since May 2022. In the spring of last year, the company opened a service, support, training and logistics center on site. The new plant will be the second location in Ukraine and is expected to employ around 100 people by the end of the year. Quantum Systems plans to invest up to six million euros over the next two years. Production capacity is expected to increase to 1,000 drones per year.

“With its commitment in Ukraine, Quantum Systems supports the fight for freedom and democracy. With its private investments, the company contributes to the security and resilience of the country,” said Habeck, according to the company’s statement.
