The spectacular robbery, in which around 3.1 million euros were stolen, remains unsolved for the time being.

Around a year after the spectacular robbery in Gützkow in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), the investigation was closed without charges. According to a spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office, based on the investigative measures carried out, sufficient suspicion could not be substantiated against any of the ten accused.

The investigation included extensive measures such as surveillance, multiple searches, account verification and forensic investigations. However, the planning and execution of the attack were so meticulous and professional that no specific acts could be attributed to a suspect.

Set the money transporter on fire

In the attack on Autobahn 20 at the Gützkow junction on March 2nd last year, the perpetrators stole around 3.1 million euros. They stopped the cash-in-transit truck with two security guards at a fake construction site and then painted the vehicle’s windshield dark.

After stealing the money, they set the van on fire and fled the scene. The two security guards remained in the vehicle until the robbers disappeared and were able to escape unharmed. As the spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office also announced, the investigation could be resumed at any time if new findings arise – for example through a relevant witness statement. In addition, the reward of 10,000 euros for information offered in August 2023 has not yet been withdrawn.
