Fernando Santos on Tuesday announced appointments for the upcoming matches of the White and Reds. There was no room for Kamil Grosicki in the team once again. The best player of the season in PKO BP Ekstraklasa did not hide his disappointment with the coach’s decision.
Kamil Grosicki for the last time in a T-shirt with the Eagle on his chest appeared at the World Cup in Qatar. The winger of Pogoń Szczecin came off the bench in the round of 16 match against France and won a penalty kick later converted into a goal by Robert Lewandowski. It was the 88th appearance in the team of “Turbo Grosik” and for now it is not expected that the player will add another one, although he emphasizes in interviews that he is still counting on appointments.
Santos is betting on the younger ones
However, Fernando Santos has a different vision of the national team, who did not send the 34-year-old player an invitation to the training camp before the June matches of the Poles with Germany and Moldova. The selector clearly wants to rejuvenate the squad. Kamil Glik and Grzegorz Krychowiak are also not among those appointed. Przemysław Wiśniewski, Michał Skóraś, Ben Lederman, Bartosz Slisz and Mateusz Łęgowski found recognition in the eyes of Santos.
