Frigate Hydra fired a cannon at UAVs – As part of EUNAVFOR operation ASPIDES
As it became known from GEETHA, today in the morning hours, in the Gulf of Aden the frigate “HYDRA” – providing protection to a commercial ship, in the context of the EUNAVFOR ASPIDES operation – fired at two Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in accordance with applicable rules of engagement, one of which was shot down and the other diverted.
The frigate continues its mission normally.
It is recalled that the first engagement of the Greek frigate to protect a merchant ship was on March 13, when it again fired a cannon at two Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, which at that time had moved away.
