Jeremin Szemjon, the war correspondent of the newspaper Izvesztyija, lost his life in the area of the special military operation, the newspaper reported on its website.
“The circumstances of the case are being clarified. Jeremin’s last report for Izvesztiya was published two days ago, when the journalist reported how soldiers of the Russian armed forces use the technique acquired during training to fight unmanned aerial vehicles with rifles,” the newspaper wrote.
Later, the Izvesztyija TV channel reported that Jeremin died from injuries sustained in a strike by a Ukrainian FPV drone.
The tragedy occurred near the village of Priyutnoye, which is located on the border of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) and the Zaporozhye region.
The journalist has been working in the field of special operations since February 2022. He also received an award for “Services for the Country”.
Earlier, Aleksandr Malkevich, a member of the Russian civil chamber, said that the chamber would request that the war correspondent be awarded the Order of Courage posthumously.
Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the UN Secretary General, told the TASZSZ news agency that the UN opposes the killing of journalists and believes that each case requires a full investigation.
