Ukrainian intelligence claims that the Russians have started operations using chemical weapons. According to the services, it is to be used to carry out a provocation, thanks to which Moscow will obtain false evidence against Ukraine. It was also reported that an element of the Russian plan is to organize actions on the premises of the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia.
Ukrainian intelligence reported that the services came into possession of Russian plans regarding the provocation that the occupiers intend to organize in Ukraine. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine referred to the conversations of the Russians, which the Ukrainians allegedly intercepted. According to the information provided by the intelligence service, the enemy will use chemical weapons, blaming the Ukrainian side for their use.

Ukrainian services published messages about the Russian provocation via social media. Ukrainians claim that the plans of the Russians are already being implemented. “The special services of the Russian Federation launched a provocation with the use of chemical weapons. In order to disrupt the counter-offensive by the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine, on May 27, 2023, the Russian occupiers launched a provocation with the use of chemical weapons in the temporarily occupied areas of the Zaporizhia Oblast,” reads a post published by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on Facebook.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the victims of the provocation will be Russian soldiers, and the purpose of the entire operation is to fabricate evidence on the basis of which Moscow will accuse Ukraine of using chemical weapons. “The victims of the hostile provocation will be the soldiers of the Russian occupation army. The aggressor plans to use the traces of chemical weapons on their bodies as false evidence against Ukraine.
The Ukrainians also emphasized that they use only conventional weapons during their warfare. It was also believed that the operations of the Russian special services “are not able to influence the further course of events at the front.”

The Ukrainian services also announced plans to carry out a “large-scale provocation”, which is to take place on the premises of the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia. Intelligence claims that the Russians will announce a leak of radioactive substances, and blame the Ukrainians for the alleged incident.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine also announced why the operation will take place on the premises of the power plant in Zaporizhia. “The purpose of this action will be to provoke the international community to conduct a thorough investigation, during which all hostilities will be stopped. In this way, Russia wants to buy time to regroup the occupation contingent and stop the Ukrainian counter-offensive.
