A recording was made of the moment when Russian air defense destroyed Ukrainian missiles attacking the Belgorod area during the night.
The attack included at least 25 projectiles that were successfully intercepted before they could reach the region’s main city of Belgorod, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on social media Friday morning.
There was minor damage in the city, windows were broken in three houses and four warehouses, the official added. A fire broke out in a non-residential building, but firefighters quickly extinguished it. Some cars were also hit by falling shrapnel.
The RIA Novosti news agency published footage showing Ukrainian shells intercepted by Russian forces overnight. The video, which was recorded by civilians living nearby, shows how the Ukrainian missiles are destroyed in the air in huge explosions. The air defense siren can also be heard in the background.
The Belgorod region is frequently hit by artillery, missile and drone attacks, as are other parts of Russia bordering Ukraine. Last month, Kiev-backed militia groups claiming to be Russian anti-government forces carried out several attempted ground attacks, all of which were thwarted by Russian security forces.
