In a press statement, the office said Gaza City “is experiencing a new environmental disaster threatening its citizens, adding to the series of disasters caused by the occupation of the Gaza Strip since the brutal aggression began.”

He added: “The disaster is that all the water wells in the city stopped completely two weeks ago due to the depletion of the meager amounts of fuel that have been available to the Gaza municipality recently.”

The statement added that the entire city “is experiencing a state of extreme thirst due to water shortages, especially given the ongoing cutoff of water supply from the (Israeli) Mekorot line since the beginning of the aggression and the complete destruction of the desalination plant. (the only one in the city), more than 40 water wells and 120,000 linear meters of networks. Water in the city.

He noted that “the crisis has now reached its peak as temperatures begin to rise and demand for water consumption increases.”

He continued: “This requires urgent intervention from all stakeholders to urgently provide fuel and replenish water supplies to citizens, and save them from extreme thirst and the health and environmental crisis that will be worsened by water cuts.”

The statement calls on the international community to “put an end to occupation crimes against civil service sectors.”

He called for “urgent action to support municipalities and ensure they have the necessary equipment and machinery to operate, especially as they are currently under heavy pressure to serve citizens and provide them with essential services, most notably water.”

The government’s media office also called for “serious international legal action to investigate all crimes committed by the occupying army against municipalities, local councils and other service institutions, and to take a responsible position in the face of the continuation of such crimes.”
