Queen Mary of Denmark has appeared in public without her husband four times since the beginning of the month.

Exactly one month from now, on May 14, King Frederik of Denmark and his wife, Queen Mary, will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. However, recently the couple have been avoiding joint public appearances after last November the monarch provoked rumors of an affair with Mexican socialite Genevieve Casanova, writes the Daily Mail.

Over the past 10 days, Queen Mary has attended various events four times in splendid isolation. Her husband was not nearby.

So, on April 3, the mother of four children attended the 75th anniversary of the creation of the Militia at the Freedom Museum in Copenhagen. She is an honorary major in the Danish Home Guard, while her husband previously served in his country’s navy and air force. Mary was joined by Major General Jens Henning Garley, head of the Home Guard, to inspect the parade before the ceremony.

Four days later, Her Majesty attended the opening of the deer park in Naerum. She unveiled her husband’s monogram on one of the red gates before releasing two deer into the park.

On April 9, Queen Mary was a guest at a charity conference in Copenhagen. At the National Museum of Denmark’s celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Specialists, an organization that helps autistic and neurodivergent people into employment, she looked dapper in a bright blue suit and black high heels.

The only time during this time that the couple performed royal duties together was meetings at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen. While King Frederik welcomed the ambassadors of the Republic of Guinea, Armenia and Slovakia to the palace, Mary met with representatives of the Danish Mental Health Foundation.

To reassure the public a little about their family, the king and queen went to a ski resort in Switzerland together late last week. However, this did not help: the couple, who took the Danish throne in January, looked very cold towards each other against the backdrop of the Verbier landscape.

Mary is holding her own after photos emerged of her husband and the Duchess of Alba’s former sister-in-law strolling around Madrid before heading home, changing clothes and going out to a restaurant again. The pictures caused a scandal, and Genevieve had to make excuses. She denied any romantic relationship with the royal.

Frederick and Mary met at the Slip Inn pub in Sydney in 2000 when the prince traveled to Australia to support the Danish sailing team at the Olympics. In his memoir, The King’s Word, Frederick said his wife, whom he calls “a woman of her time,” was not afraid to challenge him.

“As mentioned earlier, my father was a very patriarchal man and tried to pass this pattern on to his two sons. However, here I learned a lot from my wife, who reminds me from time to time that, of course, I am not always right, and that my words are not believed automatically just because I’m the man of the house,” he wrote.

The king added that Mary is his “partner and wingwoman” with whom he has “super-dynamism.”

He also denied rumors of cheating:

“I love marriage, my wife, our children and all the happy foundations that come from people who manage to stay together and persevere. Mary and I are children of our time.”
