The Ministry of Defense told what kind of assistance will be discussed at Ramstein - UNIAN War in Ukraine news

The issue of how to transfer Western weapons to Ukraine as quickly as possible will also be discussed.

Today at the meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine (Ramstein format), we will primarily discuss the supply of weapons, shells of various calibers and ATACMS to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The speaker of the Ministry of Defense Dmitry Lazutkin said this during the telethon. He noted that for six months Ukraine fought the enemy practically on its own, although there was European support, which was not enough to make the maximum use of all forces and means. According to him, the meeting in the Ramstein format, which turns two years old today, is extremely important. In this regard, he recalled that during this time $114 billion had been received to support Ukraine.

“Today we will talk about the fastest possible coordination with partners on the supply and development of logistics routes for the supply of Western weapons,” Lazutkin emphasized.

According to him, traditionally on the eve of Ramstein, several countries announced the allocation of serious funds to help Ukraine. “And this testifies to the unity and readiness of the progressive countries of the world to support Ukraine,” said the speaker of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

He recalled that a few days ago Denmark announced that an additional 590 million euros would be allocated to Ukraine, and the United States also made a fateful decision. “In addition, the UK will also allocate £500 million to support the defense of Ukraine. Estonia announced that it will provide two boats to Ukraine,” he added.

“This time we will talk about the supply of weapons, shells of various calibers, primarily 155 mm. We are talking about the supply of ATACMS ammunition to Ukraine,” Lazutkin said.

Lazutkin said that as part of the assistance, Ukraine should receive ammunition for HIMARS, shells and Bradley armored vehicles, which work very effectively on the battlefield, destroying advanced Russian equipment, including T-90 tanks.

At the same time, he emphasized that it is very important to overcome the “shell famine” that currently exists at the front. According to him, when the battles for Avdiivka took place, the ratio of shells was 1 to 10 in favor of the enemy. “And KABs flew to the positions of the Ukrainian military and their aviation worked very powerfully. Now everything has been done to neutralize the advantage of the Russians in shooting down planes. And we are also talking about covering peaceful cities, that is, air defense systems will be provided,” he said Lazutkin.

Help to Ukraine

In March, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishyna said that over the past two months Ukraine had received only 10% of the planned international financial assistance and had not received the military assistance planned under Ramstein.
