Prague – President Petr Pavel generally condemns possible bullying, humiliation and violence in schools, but in the case of a child who had to leave his country because of the war, he says they are particularly shameful. Pavel stated it today on twitter for a photo from a meeting with a Ukrainian schoolgirl, which, according to na videos circulating on social networks was bullied by her classmates on a school trip. At the same time, the president appreciated that the school and parents resolved the matter and the girl received an apology. “But the scars on the soul will remain,” he stated.

According to the published video, schoolchildren cursed and spat at the girl, among other things. Minister of Education Mikuláš Bek (STAN) also responded to the video, stating in a post below it that “bullying in any form is completely unacceptable” and called on teachers to confront it forcefully in their classrooms. Minister of the Interior Vít Rakušan (STAN) na twitter he called “spitting in the face of a child as spitting in the face of our entire civilization”. “Children just take over our patterns of behavior. And they vividly show how cruel and stupid those patterns are sometimes,” he added.

“I condemn bullying, humiliation and violence in schools in general. And in the case of a child who had to leave his country and friends because of the war and to whom we offered a safe haven, it is particularly shameful,” President Pavel responded to the event today.

According to the media, the incident happened during a school trip among elementary school students in Opočno in Rychnovsk. The school director Eva Alexanderová told the media after the event that the school will solve the problem with the parents and that she definitely does not agree with such behavior.
