According to the country’s defense minister, Ukraine needs short-range air defense systems that can be used to combat drone attacks.
The Netherlands is urgently allocating more than €200 million in military aid to Ukraine. Dutch Defense Minister Kaisa Ollongren announced this on Friday, April 19, during a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council.
According to her, the funds will be used for new initiatives to quickly supply Ukraine with additional air defense ammunition and artillery. The Netherlands will also allocate 60 million euros to Ukraine for short-range air defense systems that can be used to combat drone attacks.
“Air defense equipment and artillery ammunition are urgently needed by Ukraine. The situation threatens to become critical. The resources that the Netherlands are now providing are already on the European continent and will be delivered to Ukraine as quickly as possible. Now we must all do everything possible to support Ukraine,” – the statement says.
Dutch military assistance to Ukraine
Recently it became known that the Netherlands has allocated an additional more than 4 billion euros for Ukraine. The country has also allocated additional funds to strengthen the air defense and ammunition of its own armed forces.
Prior to this, the Netherlands allocated funds to help Ukraine. According to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, the country has allocated another billion euros for military assistance to Kyiv and 400 million euros for reconstruction.
