The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. in the Gaysinsky district. Police officers reportedly stopped a dark-colored car with two men inside for inspection.
They opened fire on the police. The 20-year-old law enforcement officer died from his injuries, and his partner was injured.
It is noted that operational services have identified persons likely involved in the crime.
At the same time, a police operation was introduced in the Vinnytsia and Odessa regions, and information on possible attackers was sent to all regional units of the National Police.

It is also clarified that the incident occurred on the highway between the villages of Florino-Elanets, Bershad TG, Gaisinsky district, when law enforcement officers stopped a car to check documents during curfew.
