Bulgaria’s new defense minister spoke in support of Ukraine and military aid to Kyiv

The new Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev, who took office on June 6, announced his support for Ukraine in its resistance to Russian aggression, the BTA agency reports.

Tagarev spoke about the main directions of his work. Among them are the continuation of efforts to strengthen Bulgaria’s defense capabilities, the contribution of the country and its army to ensuring security and stability in the Black Sea region and Southeastern Europe, as well as ensuring democratic military-civilian relations.

“We will have security when the last occupier leaves the border of Ukraine and the Kremlin’s aggressive intentions are blocked. This is the only way to guarantee our region and our future. We must do what is necessary both to strengthen our defense capabilities and to provide assistance to Ukraine so that it could continue the launched counteroffensive and liberate its territories,” the Bulgarian minister said.

It will be recalled that in March, the former Minister of Defense of Bulgaria, Boyko Noev, announced that his country would most likely sell a large amount of ammunition to Ukraine through intermediaries.

Earlier, the ex-prime minister of Bulgaria said that a significant part of the shells in Ukraine was of Bulgarian production. The same situation was with diesel fuel.

Last year, German journalists published information on how Bulgaria supplied weapons and fuel to Ukraine – during certain periods of hostilities, this state covered a third of all artillery ammunition needs of the Ukrainian army.
