The Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Valdemaras Rupšys, is visiting the United States this week, where he will meet with high-ranking officials of the US Army and NATO.

As reported by the army, V. Rupšys will meet with the commander of the Pennsylvania National Guard (PANG), Major General Mark J. Schindler, and will visit the PANG “Fort Indiantown Gap” training center, the US Army Ground War College.

During the visit, the military commander will participate in events at the NATO Allied Forces Transformation Command, where a meeting with the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) General Philippe Lavigne is planned.

During the bilateral meeting on June 8, V. Rupšys and P. Lavigne will discuss the currently emerging issues of hybrid warfare, cyberspace and climate security threats, which require innovation and synchronization throughout the Alliance.

The army statement indicates that this year the Lithuanian army is celebrating the 30th anniversary of cooperation in the field of defense with PANG, which is one of the largest in the US defense system, under the State Partnership Program (SPP).

It should be noted that at the annual SPP partners’ conference organized by the National Guard Office, the long-term cooperation between the Lithuanian Army and the Pennsylvania National Guard was awarded the “Partnership of the Year” award by the US National Guard Office.

The first program, which started the cooperation between PANG and the Lithuanian army, aimed to help the Lithuanian army to achieve the military standards and compatibility of Western countries.
