Javelin throw – Hofmann ends World Cup season – Sport

World news

The former European Championship runner-up in javelin throwing, Andreas Hofmann, 31, has torn his cruciate ligament and has to end his World Cup season. “I’ve had a tough few days since last Sunday. I tore the anterior cruciate ligament in my left knee during a warm-up throw,” he shared on Instagram. This means that Hofmann no longer has a chance of participating in the World Championships in Budapest (19th to 27th August). He will discuss how to proceed with a knee specialist, “but I will not be able to avoid an operation,” said Hofmann, who won silver at the European Championships in Berlin in 2018.
