The House of Representatives elected two new members of the Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting. He will replace councilors whose term of office expires at the end of June and July after six years.

The Pirates and Starostov proposed Petr Buchta to the Broadcasting Board. 94 MPs voted for him. The Spolu coalition candidate Marek Poledníček also passed, supported by 91 MPs.

The candidate of the ANO movement, Vladimír Pikora, was unsuccessful, to whom only 70 legislators voted in the secret election. The threshold for election was 90 votes.

The term of office of Petr Buchta and Marek Poledníček will begin on July 2, 2023. They will replace Václav Jehlička, whose mandate ends on June 30, and Ladislav Šincel, whose mandate expires on July 1.

ANO MPs protested against the election of Marek Poledníček. “The Coalition Together proposes the candidate Mr. Poledníček, who is a member of the KDU-ČSL, who holds the position of a member of the Regional Committee of the KDU-ČSL in the Karlovy Vary region, who is also an official because he is the chairman of the local organization of the KDU-ČSL in Ostrov, in addition to this, of course, he is a representative of the Karlovy Vary region and also a representative of the city of Ostrova,” noted Aleš Juchelka (ANO).

“If Marek Poledníček is elected as a member of the Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting, he will resign from the post of member of the regional council of the Karlovy Vary region, and with this post the position of a member of the KDU-ČSL Regional Committee in the Karlovy Vary Region,” responded the chairman of the KDU-ČSL parliamentary club Marek Excellent. According to the people, no conflict of interest will arise.

Marek Poledníček already sat in the Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting in 2015-2021.

As of May 30, there remains one vacancy in the Broadcasting Board following the dismissal of Daniel Köppl. The deputies have yet to decide on the filling of this position.
