Who is Hafiza Ghaya Arkan?
Hafiza Gay Erkan is an engineer and economist. Hafiza Gay Erkan was born in 1982 in Istanbul to a Turkish family. I graduated with the first rank from Boğaziçi University, Department of Industrial Engineering.
It is noteworthy that her father was an engineer, and her mother was a teacher of mathematics and physics, and this helped Hafiza Ghaya Arkan to grow up in a center based on numbers and improve her numerical mentality.
Hafiza Ghaya Arkan continued her education in the United States of America and obtained a Ph.D. in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University. She worked in the field of finance. She was the youngest finance professor in the United States, as she was the first student to complete a two-year PhD program in one year.
Hafiza Ghaya Arkan worked at First Republic Bank, which was established in 1985. Hafiza Ghaya Arkan also held senior management positions in several financial advisory firms.
She worked as a manager at the First Bank, which lost its shares dramatically on March 1 and was transferred to the administration of the American state.
Hafiza Ghaya Erkan joined the board of directors of Fortune 500 company Marsh McLennan in March 2022 and served on the board of Tiffany & Co. from 2019 until its acquisition by LVMH in 2021. She also sits on the advisory board for the Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering at Princeton University.
In 2019, she was named to Crain’s Top Women in Banking and Finance, and to American Banker Women to Watch.
In 2018, she was named to the San Francisco Business Times 40 Under 40 list and Crain New York Business’s 40 Under 40 list. According to research by the San Francisco Business Times, she is identified as the only woman under 40 to hold the title of president or CEO of the 100 largest banks in America.
She serves on the board of directors of the New York City Partnership and is an active supporter of the National Alliance of Girls’ Schools. In addition, Hafiza Gay Erkan is the founder of the First Republic Fellowship Program, which leads young women from disadvantaged backgrounds through STEM education, mentoring, and professional development. She is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the International Women’s Forum.
