According to world publications, there are at least 7 billionaires in Ukraine, who are also the most influential people in the country.
They are expecting a hundred of the richest people in the country, – writes the Correspondent.
Business in Ukraine is quite highly concentrated. For example, about 70% of the assets belonging to the first hundred are in the hands of the 20 richest people. This is a greeting from the times of great privatization, when enterprises of metallurgy, energy, chemical industry and other legacy of the Soviet industry found their owners.
At the same time, the structure of assets belonging to the first hundred richest people is gradually changing. For example, assets in agribusiness, retail trade, real estate and construction occupy a rather prominent place. And these are businesses that were mostly created from scratch, although most often it was done with money earned in other areas.
But the financial business occupies a very modest place in the assets of the wealthiest. Which is clear after the bank collapse that lasted in 2014-2016. State banks, a few private Ukrainian banks and, of course, a bank with foreign shareholders survived. For this reason, many owners of large banking groups are not in the rating.
And in principle, the value of Ukrainian businesses was greatly affected by the crises, as well as by Russian aggression in the east and south of Ukraine. For example, the owner of Horliv Styrol is not present in our rating, as well as the owners of a number of other enterprises that have ceased to exist.
