According to Maxim Zhorin, these are mobilized prisoners and contract soldiers.
Throughout the war, the Russian occupiers recruited various categories of “fighters” into the ranks of their army. Thus, at the beginning of a full-scale invasion, regular military personnel were brought in, and later mobilized ones, who were thrown into the assaults as “cannon fodder.” Sometimes fighters from private military companies were used, which are now slowly running out. Major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, deputy commander of the 3rd separate assault brigade Maxim Zhorin spoke about this on Channel 24.
According to him, Russians have no problems with replenishing human resources. At the same time, enemy personnel are now represented in three categories:
- mobilized, which Russians have in greatest numbers;
- prisoners, a certain number of whom are still alive;
- contract soldiers, among whom are those who previously had military experience or those who voluntarily go to fight.
As the major said, these three categories have recently been the main ones on the line of combat contact, while the Russians can quite easily afford to “erase” their unit to zero, and the next day create a new one.
“We have already seen this several times only in the Avdeevsky direction. We understand from intelligence data and interceptions that the enemy unit is over. However, after a few hours we already see how fresh forces are brought into the battle and continue to attempt assault and offensive actions,” said Zhorin.
Situation at the front – latest news
On Sunday, March 24, Ukrainian aviation and missile forces battered the invaders. During the day, Defense Forces aviation carried out strikes on 8 areas where enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated.
As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, units of the missile forces defeated two enemy air defense systems, three artillery weapons and one electronic warfare station.
The General Staff also told us what was happening at the front. Thus, 52 military clashes were recorded during the day. The enemy carried out 32 missile and 47 air strikes, carried out 48 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and populated areas.
